Conversion of a barn, formerly used as an artist studio, into a living room/screening room for a young family. The barn is connected to the main house, used as a weekend retreat, through a breezeway.
24 ft wide doors have been opened on both long side of the barn and the interior walls have been clad with walnut planks finished with linseed oil. The catwalk connecting to the mezzanine and the stair are in natural steel with a wax finish.
The large fireplace is created by slabs of walnut travertine and the floor is embedded with river pebbles. The furniture is a mix of pieces custom designed by the firm and interesting found objects discovered by the clients.
